Onii-chan!! Listen listen!!(≧∇≦)
I went to see the Back to the Future 40th anniversary IMAX screening!!
Oh, how was it?
It was amazing…
It’s completely different from watching on a small monitor at home!!
The IMAX Sound Was Incredible
Remember the opening scene? Where Marty turns the amp to MAX and plays guitar!(゚∀゚)
The one where the amp blows up.
Yes!!
But you know what? More than the moment it blows up, the building anticipation was incredible!
That feeling of “here it comes, here it comes…” - you can only experience that in a dark theater with IMAX sound…!
Impossible to replicate at home.
Totally impossible! You can feel it in your gut!(´∀`)
The Visuals Were So Crisp
Even though it’s a 40-year-old movie, the picture quality was amazing!
I could see every wrinkle on Doc’s face so clearly…!
Maybe it was remastered.
Probably!
On the big screen you notice all these details, so I made some new discoveries too!(´∀`)
The Clock Tower Scene Still Gets Me
The climax at the clock tower still makes my heart race right down to the wire…!
The screenplay is perfect.
Right!?
Even knowing how it ends, I still get nervous. That’s incredible!(≧∇≦)
George McFly Is Too Handsome
Also, I noticed something…(〃´∪`〃)
George McFly is way too handsome, right?
Marty’s dad?
Yeah! He plays a timid character but his face is consistently good-looking!
…But he’s a peeping tom, that’s his only flaw lol(´∀`)
Watching through binoculars from a tree.
Handsome but a peeper - that gap is hilarious!(゚∀゚)
Subtitle Spelling Changed?
Oh, and I noticed something curious~
In the Japanese subtitles, Marty’s mom was spelled “Lorēn” instead of “Lorein”!
New subtitles maybe?
Could be! The elongated vowel is closer to the English pronunciation, so maybe they revised it for the 40th anniversary?
Most fan sites use the old spelling, so it was a small discovery!(´∀`)
The Bonus Poster
I got the overseas IMAX poster as a bonus! A3 size!
What’s the design like?
Well… it has the DeLorean running but…(゚∀゚)
It felt more like an IMAX ad than a BTTF poster lol
“THE FUTURE LOOKS A LOT BIGGER IN IMAX”?
That’s the one! IMAX is the star lol
But I’m still gonna frame it as a keepsake!♪
I Wanna See Part 2 in IMAX…!
Hey Onii-chan~, will they do an IMAX screening for Part 2?
Part 2 came out in 1989, so the 40th anniversary would be 2029.
4 more years…(>_<)
If Part 1 does well, maybe they’ll do it sooner~?
Possibly.
I’ll be waiting!!(≧∇≦)
Summary
I went to the opening day late show, and the audience was all well-mannered adults - perfect environment!♪
Sounds like a great experience.
It was!!
Classics really should be seen in theaters…!
The screening runs until December 18th, so hurry if you’re interested~!(≧∇≦)
